BINAH YESEIRAH FACT SHEET

Dear Binah Yeseirah Student,


1. The dorm will be open June 27. The first day of classes is July 1, 2008 at 9:30 AM. Please go to Mualeem Nissim 6, Ramat Sharett to choose your dorm room. The dorm assignments are up to you on a first come first served basis. If you have any dorm questions please go the Darchei Binah office at 22 Nezer David, Ramat Sharet when you arrive. If you wish to stay in the dorm after the end of the program the cost will be $50 per week.

3. Please bring two fitted sheets, two top sheets and two pillow cases. We will provide pillows and blankets.

4. Please bring plastic or real silverware. We will provide pots and pans.

5. Lunch will be served on school days: Sunday-Thursday.

6. There will be a Shabbaton. The date will be posted.

7. Please make your own Shabbos arrangements for the other Shabbasos. If you need places to stay please let us know and we will try to arrange Shabbos hospitality.

8. There are no classes on Fridays.

9. Cell Phone plans are available from Kol Contacts. The agreement is online at www.binahyeseirah.org You will need a credit card to rent a phone. When you order a phone by faxing the form to the Kol Contacts office you can pick up the phone when you arrive at the Kol Contacts Office on campus.

10. You can sign up for Harel Medical coverage program by downloading and completing the documents at www.binahyeseirah.org. Please fax them to the Israeli Health care office in advance with your credit card details. The cost is $1.00 per day.

PSY203;204 Polemics in Judaism; Seminar in Outreach Techniques (2-0-2)
A series of lectures given by preeminent outreach professionals on basic principles of teaching and programming for the Jewish community at large.  Program includes: analysis of social and physical factors and their influence on learning attitudes both in and out of the classroom; theories of learning; methods of teaching; strong emphasis on motivation and communication techniques; thought processes: creative and critical thinking.
Course requirement: Research project

BIB143;144  Deuteronomy: (2-0-2)
In depth analysis of Moses' parting message to the Jewish nation.  Techniques in biblical exegesis.  Exploration through the eyes of the Talmud, the aggadah, and classical biblical commentaries including Rashi, Ibn Ezra, and Ramban.  Includes the exposition of modern commentaries such as Rabbi S.R. Hirsch, the Meschech Chachma, and the Sfas Emes.  Emphasis placed on analysis and comparison of the commentaries.

Course requirement:  Final exam
